Expertise in Evidence-Based Therapy for OCD and Anxiety Related Disorders

At Brandywine Psychology, we specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other research tested interventions to help you break free from social isolation, stigma, and depression that OCD, anxiety, or eating disorders can cause.  Many of our treatments involve exposure or behavior experiments where we practice doing the hard things together. This may mean our sessions occur outside of the therapy room and in real life settings. We want to help you get your life back and we have the extensive experience in using science backed techniques to help you do just that!

What You Can Expect

It can be hard to take the first step to work with a psychologist. Often conditions like OCD or other emotional concerns go untreated due to the shame and stigma about seeking help.   My style is compassionate and irreverent. I use humor and validation to bring hard to face feelings into the light.  Plus, I test our work along the way, and we go out together and do things that anxiety tells you are too hard. I use techniques that work so, together, we can get you back to your life. My work is meant to be relatively short-term, so we create a plan to help you meet your goals. you will also learn skills so that you can be your own anxiety expert too!

  • Our anxiety and OCD treatments are designed to help clients overcome anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder, panic, phobias, OCD, and social anxiety. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (E/RP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) have research to suggest that they work to improve   symptoms and develop long-term coping skills. These interventions can help you break free from obsessions and uncomfortable sensations and rituals.

    • I work with transition age youth and adults with the spectrum of eating related concerns. We know that eating disorders are NOT choices but are neurobiological conditions and are genetic. I have expertise in treatments that emphasize the biological nature and work with the teen/young adults many strengths along with compassion and caregiver support to help achieve recovery.

    •  We can work with youth and adults who are medically stable and able to safely do outpatient care. Conditions we treat include restrictive eating disorders  such as anorexia, ARFID/selective eating, food refusal due to GI pain, traumatic experiences (e.g. choking, fear of vomiting), and bingeing and purging disorders.  We are a Health at Every Size informed practice and do not provide weight loss interventions. We work with clients and families to get relief and harm reduction from your eating disorder.

  • Trichotillomania (Trich), is a Body-focused Repetitive Behavior Disorder (BFRB) often referred to as “hair-pulling disorder,” that affects millions of people. Trich and other BFRB's can cause intense shame and anxiety as well as impact one's appearance and self-esteem. Psychologists trained in effective treatments  like comprehensive Behavioral Treatment (ComB), habit reversal training, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) can help reduce these behaviors and help you feel good about yourself again. Medication, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), may also be prescribed in certain cases.
