Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health disorder characterized by a person getting caught in a cycle of obsessions and compulsions. Obsessions are unwanted, intrusive thoughts, images or urges that trigger intensely distressing feelings. Compulsions are behaviors an individual engages in to attempt to get rid of the obsessions or decrease his or her distress.
PANDAS is the sudden, rapid-onset of obsessive compulsive behavior, as well as possible movement and behavioral symptoms, following a Strep infection. It can be treated similar to OCD.
Exposure and Response Prevention is the best known treatment available for OCD in children and adults.
